Statement Regarding COVID-19

updated 12 March 2020

As an international organization, the Forum was built and has been sustained by member representatives from around the globe since our creation. Our hearts go out to all who have been impacted by the recent Coronavirus (COVID-19), declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization on 11 March 2020.

While the majority of Forum work is conducted virtually via online meetings, the Forum is currently addressing the potential impact of the virus on upcoming in-person meetings that are being planned, such as the 82nd General Meeting in May and scheduled in conjunction with Connect (X). Many members have indicated that travel restrictions have been implemented at their organizations at least through March, which may be lifted in April or May. Accordingly, the May meeting is moving forward as planned at this time. We are talking frequently with the Connect(X) organizers and will be meeting with the Board of Directors next week; any changes to these plans will be communicated as quickly as possible.

For more information on the measures the Connect (X) host WIA is taking at the event, please see their message here:

During this time, we encourage you to learn as much as you can about the virus and how to keep yourself and those around you healthy and safe. Please reference the links below for such information:
