Peter G. Cook - Board of Directors Chair

Peter G. Cook is President of the Peter G. Cook Consultancy, Inc, based in Mesa, Arizona. He specializes in Communications Systems and Software Defined Radio technology. He is an Officer, Treasurer, and Director of the Software Defined Radio Forum, and has been an active participant in SDRF projects for thirteen years.

Mr. Cook has worked on a variety of computer and communications systems during his career. Prior to retirement from the Motorola Government Electronics Group (now part of General Dynamics), he was Chief Computer Scientist, and worked on the DMR and SPEAKeasy SDR programs for the Department of Defense. He also supported development of a number of Motorola products worldwide including Smart Cards, Iridium, Cellular Infrastructure, Cellular Subscriber, Paging, and the Codex ATM switch.

He previously worked in Corporate R & D for Motorola, and served as Motorola liaison to the MCC research consortium in Austin, Texas. Prior to that assignment, he was Vice President of Systems and Software Development for Motorola Four-Phase Systems, Inc.

Prior employers include Tektronix, Inc. where he was responsible for the Plot-10 Computer Graphics software, and Corning, Inc. where he was Director of Information Systems and Manager of the Corporate Data Processing Center.

Mr. Cook has a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Williams College, and has done graduate work in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, and General Systems. In addition, Lieutenant Colonel Cook is a retired Air Force Pilot and Communications Officer, and a graduate of the Air War College, Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and Air Command and Staff College (non-resident programs).
