Meeting location:
Paris
The meeting is hosted by Thales on its campus “CRISTAL”, situated in the town of Gennevilliers (close outskirt of Paris). Meeting attendance is entirely free of charge, including lunches.
Meeting will take place in the Business Center (Building B) of the CRISTAL campus.
General access plan to the CRISTAL campus is available here.
This Technical Exchange Meeting (TEM) supports the progress of the Transceiver Next project (see the initial call for participation), which aims to develop the next version of the WInnF Transceiver Facility.
The TEM corresponds to the M2 milestone identified in the Transceiver Next Detailed Project Description, and will address matters according to the defined meeting agenda (see below).
The WInnF Transceiver Facility is an SDR Standard that provides implementation-abstract standard APIs that enable it to reach a high degree of portability for SDR Applications (such as Waveforms), while enabling SDR Transceivers to host a large variety of SDR Applications.
Since its publication in 2009, the V1 specification has been reported to be used in many contexts, and a number of suggestions of improvement have already been reported. Besides, interest is growing for a number of additional features to be included in the standard. The WINNF Transceiver Facility is now managed as a WINNF SDR Standard, in accordance with CC SCA Policy 006. Unlike previous version of the Transceiver Facility that was driven by requirements of Waveform Applications, Transceiver Next Project will broaden applicability of the specification to other categories of SDR Applications such as Test and Measurement, Dynamic Spectrum Allocation, Electronic Warfare or Sensing.
Registration
Registrations are collected by WInnF, and must be done via the form available here.
The registration will be closed on 19 may 12:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time.
The closing date of the registration will be strictly enforced because of:
- Exceptional anti-terrorism measures currently in place in Paris area, which imply it is absolutely mandatory to have a visit notice be filed 48 hours in advance for each participant external to Thales, whatever any consideration of nationality,
- The need to indicate to the catering service, several days in advance, the exact number of participants, knowing that no individual on-site payment possible.
Meeting Arrival and Departure
Participants need to present themselves at the campus gates with the passport or ID card indicated in the registration form.
The meeting rooms will be opened at 8:45, to enable installation of participants.
The Business Center lobby is opened earlier, so it is recommended to target arrival at 8:30.
The meetings closing at 18:00 will imply leaving CRISTAL around 18:15.
Transportation
Metro stations
Two metro stations enable to access to CRISTAL:
- Station “Gare de Gennevilliers” of the RER line C (“RER C”). As well a stop for the tramway line 1 (“T1”).
- Station “Asnières-Gennevilliers Les Courtilles” of the subway (“métro”) line 13 (“M 13”).
Usage of the shuttle service described in the following chapter is required to connect those metro stations to the campus.
Shuttle service between metro stations and the campus
Access to the shuttles is restricted: Thales visitors need to pre-print one “shuttle ticket” that has to be presented to the shuttle driver to me admitted on board.
Shuttle ticket file, shuttles timetable and stop points will be sent in advance to meeting participants. It is recommended to consider 10-15 min as the transportation time between the metro stations and the campus.
Taxis
Getting in
The following address: “Principal Thales Campus – 4 avenue des Louvresses – Gennevilliers” should be sufficient as an indication to taxi drivers.
Getting out
Reservations of taxis will be made by a Thales secretary. All bookings will be done daily, at once, just after lunch, with a default departure time at set at 18:15.
Lodging
No negotiated hotel rates agreements are available for lodging.
Paris not being short of lodging opportunities, the following recommendations are provided from a strictly indicative and courtesy perspective.
The following places are conveniently situated on the RER C:
- Around the RER C station “Gare de Gennevilliers”:
- Closest from the campus, with shuttle service (see above),
- Suburban area with professional mid-level lodging,
- Preferred hotel of the area is the “Campanile Les Barbanniers”.
- Around the RER C station “Neuilly-Porte Maillot”:
- 5 RER stations from Genneviliers,
- “Porte Maillot” is the most touristic of the Paris “portes”, down the hill from the “Arc de Triomphe”, at the external limit of Paris,
- Flagship hotel in the area is the “Hyatt Regency Porte Maillot” (former “Concorde Lafayette”), several other choices in the area.
The “Gare Saint-Lazare” area can be considered as well:
- 8 stations from Les Courtilles, via M 13
- Reasonably central position in Paris, with several subway lines,
- Host of hotel choices in the area (no particular recommendation).
