     The Wireless Innovation Forum today announced the initial Steering Group for the Forum's Coordinating Committee on International Software Communications Architecture Standards (CC SCA). The CC SCA is a Technical Committee the Wireless Innovation Forum created to oversee the evolution and adoption, at the international level, of SCA standards for the development of software defined radios.

     


    Wireless Innovation Forum Initiates SATCOM for Public Safety Project, Signs MOU with COST-TERRA Program at 66th Working Meeting in Mainz, Germany

    The Wireless Innovation Forum approved a new project being prepared for the US Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency and first responder providers at its 66th General Meeting, June 21-23, 2010, in Mainz, Germany. Other meeting highlights included a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the COST-TERRA program, finalization of a project proposal for SCA Certification Guide #2, finalization of a survey project and announcement of the location for next year's European Reconfigurable Radio Technologies event.

    The Wireless Innovation Forum will finalize a Public Safety proposal and a new Security Working Group document as well as propose a new project for developing a "Hybrid SATCOM Reference Architecture for Public Safety Applications," among many other items, at its 66th General Meeting, June 21-23, 2010, in Mainz, Germany. The meeting is comprised of working sessions advancing The Forum's 2010 operations plan in support of the commercial, public safety, satellite communications, and international tactical radio communities.

    Ballot for CC SCA Charter V0.5.0 15 March 2010 - Final Draft

    In accordance with the procedures of the Wireless Innovation Forum (SDR Forum, Version 2.0), the document entitled CC SCA Charter V0.5.0 15 March 2010 - Final Draft is being announced to principal and alternate representatives and technical designates of the Forum for ballot at the Committee level. Representatives should have received an email with this announcement. One ballot will be allowed per member organization, but all comments will be considered.
    This charter has been approved for release to Coordinating Committee for International SCA Standards by the Forum’s Board of Directors and defines the structure of the Committee and the policies and procedures under which the Committee will abide.
    Balloting will end at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time 14 May 2010.


    SDR10 Proposal Submission Deadline April 2

    Attracting attendees from all aspects of the advanced wireless value chain, SDR10 is the ideal place to network and make an impact on the reconfigurable radio community. The Wireless Innovation Forum (SDR Forum version 2.0) is soliciting abstracts and proposals for five tracks: Research and Development, Design Manufacture and Deployment, Demonstrations, Tutorials and Workshops. The deadline for submissions is 2 April 2010. The event will be held Nov. 30 - Dec. 3 in Washington, DC. The top 10 papers in the Research and Development track will be eligible for placement in a leading journal publication. New this year, the Design Manufacture and Deployment Track will be presentation oriented, with papers optional.

    SDR Forum Announces Workshop Focused on Spectrum Sharing In TV White Space

    The SDR Forum announced today a call for presentation submissions for its workshop “Spectrum Sharing by TV Band Devices.” The workshop will be held June 16 in Dearborn, Michigan in conjunction with The SDR Forum’s 63rd General Meeting. The FCC recently approved the use of TV Band Devices (TVBDs) that will operate on an unlicensed basis in unoccupied TV channels. Multiple industry organizations and standards bodies are developing systems and technical standards intended for use in this spectrum. There is no regulatory constraint on the interference TVBDs may cause each other.
